Inoltre il Ponte Nuovo, inserito nel contesto di cerniera tra città fiume e collina, diverrà moderna cornice per una serie di vedute tipiche di Torino, già più volte illustrate nell’iconografia storica.

Si vanno così delineando le caratteristiche di un esteso ambito precluso alle auto, in grado di offrire ai cittadini e ai turisti un ricco e vitale sistema di spazi pubblici concatenati, contraddistinti da svariate caratteristiche ambientali.

La piazza della Gran Madre rinascerà grazie all’affaccio diretto sul fiume (non più impedito dal traffico) e al collegamento con piazza Vittorio Veneto attraverso il Ponte Napoleonico.
